Gerald "Jerry" Owens Ellis was born in Fort Worth on March 1, 1948, to M.L. and Juanita Ellis.
Jerry married Sabra Crow on September 20, 1975, in Fort Worth after graduating with a degree in mathematics from Texas Wesleyan College. He was raised in Mansfield and has resided in Arlington for the past 50 years. He was a faithful servant of his home church, Woodland West Church of Christ, where he served as a deacon.
Jerry retired from Southwestern Bell as a technical planner in 2001. He spent his second career as a facilities manager at his church. He loved to play golf and travel with his wife, exploring more than 40 countries across five continents. He was devoted to God and his family, who knew him as Big Daddy.
Jerry is preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Lynn & Bob. He is survived by his wife, Sabra Ellis; son, Marcus Ellis & wife Rebecca; daughters, Amanda Gibson & Michael, and Mallory Fluty & Taylor; grandchildren, Hadley, Owen, Lucy and Spencer Ellis, Sutton and Reese Fluty; brother, Don Ellis and wife Marianna; sister, Barbara Wright and husband Weldon; and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, September 27 from 6-8 pm at Woodland West Church of Christ. The funeral service for Jerry Ellis will be held at 1 pm on Wednesday, September 28, at Woodland West Church of Christ. Burial will follow at Laurel Land Memorial Park in Fort Worth.
