Mr. Clyde Allen Hatchel, 79, passed away Friday, June 27, 2014, at the Village of Brookwood Skilled Nursing Center after a lengthy illness.

Born in Durham County, he was the son of the late James H. Hatchel and the late Mary Steveson Hatchel and was married for over 62 years to Mrs. Charlotte Godfrey Hatchel, who survives. Clyde retired from Chandler Concrete as a longtime diesel mechanic and was a former member of Lowe Memorial Baptist Church.

Mr. Hatchel is survived by his loving wife, of the home; four children, Vickie Brooks, Timothy Hatchel and wife Cindy, Robin Welborn and husband Rick and Terry Coleman, all of Burlington; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and a brother, Ernest (Margaret) Hatchel of Burlington.

He was preceded in death by his parents, four sisters and three brothers.

A memorial service will be conducted at 4 p.m. Sunday, June 29, 2014, in the Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Dr. Donald Godfrey. The family will receive friends following the service and at other times at the residence.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Alamance-Caswell, 918 Chapel Hill Road, Burlington, NC 27215.
