She lived with her grandparents in Taylor's Creek until 1941 when the family moved to their farm in Liberty County, GA. She attended Bradwell Institute from first grade through high school. She was high school sweethearts with Buddy Blake, played varsity basketball, and wore the crown of the Turtle Queen in a parade through town. She and Buddy secretly married in January, 1955. Later that year she joined him in Denver, CO following his basic training for the U.S. Air Force. They livedin Colorado, Texas, Wyoming, California, Mississippi, and a NATO Military assignment in the Netherlands. When they returned to the U.S. in 1976, they purchased a three-story historic colonial home in Old Town Beaumont, TX, and established "Blakes House of Antiques," which became the George Blake Clock Co. They purchased and converted an older home in Old Town, where she owned and operated the Emporium and Tea Room, and helped her daughter Toni, as business manager of her educational firm. She was preceded in death by her parents, Emma Erldine Floyd Berry Guyett and William Robert Berry; husband, George (Buddy) Francis Blake Jr.; and brothers, Harold Ernest Guyett, Jr., George Wade Guyett, Dennis Eugene Guyett, and Kenneth Franklin Guyett of Hinesville, GA. Surviving are her three children, Janice Paula (Frank) Scales, George Francis Blake, III, and Toni Lynn (Doug) Rudnik, seven granddaughters, and fifteen great-grandchildren; brother, Russell Allen (Kelly) Guyett; and two sisters-in-law, Carol and Judy Guyett.
