Marissa Shanease Richardson, 18, of Hollister, North Carolina, affectionately known as "Froot", was born June 6, 1995 to William and Sheila Richardson in Rocky Mount, North Carolina. She departed this earthly life on March 10, 2014 in Warrenton, North Carolina.

She accepted Christ and was baptized at the age of seven. Marissa was an active member of the Pine Chapel Baptist Church, and also faithfully participated in the Junior Choir.

Marissa was reared in Hollister, North Carolina and received her education from the Halifax County Public School System. She was a proud Cadet Staff Sergeant of the Junior Reserved Officer Training Corp (JROTC). Marissa was an avid volleyball player during her last two years of high school.

She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. Her smile was infectious and bright enough to light up a room. Her hobbies included her love of nail designing and creative hair styling. Marissa approached each day with a carefree spirit, unwilling to be deterred with life's many challenges.

Marissa was preceded in death by her maternal grandmother: Roxie Richardson; her paternal grandfather: Alfonza Richardson; a niece; Eternity Lancaster; and an aunt: Celestine Richardson.

Those left to cherish her precious memories are: her beloved parents: William and Sheila Richardson of the home; two brothers: Derrick Lancaster of Nashville, NC and Deontye Joyner (Keisha) of Clinton, MD; one sister: Sherica Bobbitt (Chaz) of Greensboro, NC; three nephews: Demetrates and D'mir Bobbitt of Greensboro, NC and Andre Bowie of Clinton, MD; a very special friend: Delshawn Watson of Warrenton, NC; aunts: Brenda Richardson, Velma Evans (Randy), Patricia Richardson, Charlotte Evans (Milton), Jeraldean Richardson (William), Darlean Richardson (Tony), Sylvia Jones (Steve) and Norma Richardson (Jose); uncles: James Richardson, Forrest Junior (Sandra), Tony Richardson (Bonnie) and Keith Richardson; and a host of cousins, relatives and friends.

A Visitation for Ms. Richardson will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., on Friday, March 14, 2014, at Pine Chapel Baptist Church in Hollister, N.C. Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 p.m., on Saturday, March 15, 2014 at Pine Chapel Baptist Church in Hollister, N.C. The Interment will take place immediately after the Service, in Pine Chapel Baptist Church Cemetery in Hollister, N.C.
