Juanita Smith Ellis, 51, of 122 North Oneida Circle, passed away suddenly Tuesday morning, October 4, 1988, at the Scott County Hospital.
She was the daughter of the late Sam and Bertha Letner Smith and was also preceded in death by a sister, Magaline Boles; three infant sisters; and one brother, J. Clay Mitchell Smith. She was a member of the Helenwood Baptist Church.
She is survived by three daughters: Diane Layne and husband, Roy of Helenwood, Donna Layne and husband, Dennis of Helenwood, Amanda Monroe and husband, James of Oneida; two sons: Larry Ellis and wife, Janie of Oneida, and Danny Ellis and wife, Kathy of Robbins; twelve grandchildren; six sisters: Gertie Phillips, Cora Caldwell and Jossia Boshears, all of Helenwood, Gladys Hamby of Robbins, Artemia Anderson of Batavia, O., and Irene Vanhoover of Bethel, O.; and one brother, Lawrence Smith of Florida.
Funeral services were conducted at 2 p.m. Friday, October 7, at the West-Murley Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jerry Feathers officiating. The True Way Gospel Singers sang. Burial was in the Daniel Memorial Cemetery. Pallbearers were: Timothy Henderson, Greg Vanhoover, Allen Hamby, Mark Caldwell, Tommy Hamby, and Jody Hamby. West-Murley Funeral Home in Oneida was in charge of the arrangements.
