San Juan - Rebecca "Becky" Sandoval, 85, passed away peacefully on September 15, 2022. She is loved by many and will be sorely missed.

Becky was born in San Juan on March 28, 1937 to Francisco Guerra and Maria Teresa Garza. Becky married Rogelio "Roy" Sandoval in 1958 and together built a good life for their five children. They loved to dance, and were very good at it. They traveled often. They would regularly take off in their car, "a Dar la Vuelta" enjoying each other's company for hours on end. Becky became Roy's devoted caretaker during his battle with cancer, and visited him almost daily after his death, sitting on a marble bench next to his gravestone. They are back together embracing and calling each other "Honey." Becky's early work life was as a seamstress at Dickies and WW Criswell. In her later life, she was employed as a salesperson at the San Juan Basilica Gift Shop from which she retired. She would relax by reading mystery and romance novels. She also wrote, leaving behind dozens of hand written journals. She loved sewing and gifted handmade quilts to loved ones.

Becky was a loving, welcoming person. She had an easy smile, gave warm heartfelt hugs, and would end visits with long goodbyes. True to form, she indeed left with a long goodbye. Though parts of her left before others, her true essence remained and shone through until her last breath.

She is preceded in death by husband Roy Sandoval; eight siblings, Rey, Ted, Chica Torres, Belia Salazar, Bea Elizondo, Fernando, and Ramiro; and her twin sister Rachel Cantu whom she shared so much with.

Mrs. Sandoval is survived by her five children, David Sandoval, Roy (Rose) Sandoval, Neida (Jay) Chavana, Mauro (Nelda) Sandoval, Armando (Brenda) Sandoval; nine grandchildren, Melissa Mylo Chavana, Jennifer Perez, Samantha Warren, Bernadette Escobedo, CJ Escobedo, Jamie Sandoval, Benjamin Sandoval, AJ Sandoval and Isabella Sandoval; four great grandchildren, Brendon Troy Perez, River Rose Rawlings, Rylie Raine Rawlings, and Brielle Lanae Perez; sister, Blanca Cantu; brother, Orlando Guerra; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and in-laws.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. with a 6 p.m. rosary Friday, September 23, 2022, at Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan. Funeral service will take place at 12 noon Saturday, September 24, 2022, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Parish in San Juan. Interment will follow at San Juan Cemetery.

The family would like to send a special Thank You to the many providers and health care professionals who attended to her during the last two years.

Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan.
