Clinton Melvin Stephens, Jr., 85, of Lake Village (Jennings) Arkansas, passed away on December 13, 2021.

He was born on February 24, 1936.

Clinton accepted Christ at a young age and was a longtime member of the Mt. Calvary Missionary Baptist Church where he served as a deacon until death. He graduated from Merrill High School in 1953. He met his wife, Jamie, while attending Arkansas Agricultural Mechanical and Normal (AM&N) College.

Having earned a Bachelor of Science in Automotive Mechanics, he took his degree to Michigan to become a high school shop teacher. After a short stay in Michigan, he moved back to Pine Bluff to work in his uncle's mechanic shop. After working in his uncle's mechanic shop for a few years, he started a long a career at the Cotton Belt Railroad as a locomotive engineer. He retired from the railroad after
30+ years of service.

Clinton enjoyed in his free time gardening. He raised all types of vegetables, such as tomatoes, cucumbers, peas, and beans. He enjoyed growing apple, plum, pear, and fig trees. His favorite pastime was watching major league baseball.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ruby Stephens of Lake Village, Arkansas and Clinton Stephens, Sr. of Eudora, Arkansas; and his sister, Rose Marie Brown of Los Angeles, CA.

Clinton was survived by his wife of 59 years, Jamie Jenkins; three sons: Clinton Stephens III (Magdalene) of Charlotte, NC, Andre Stephens of Pine Bluff, AR, and Brian Stephens (Donna) of Stuttgart, AR; one daughter, Sharon Stephens of Pine Bluff, AR; her grandchildren; her great-grandchildren; one brother, Robert Stephens of Pine Bluff, AR: her sisters: Alta Mae Carnes of Kansas City, MO, Lue Alice Wright of Pine Bluff, AR, and Ruthie Stephens of Kansas City, MO; one uncle, Charlie Fletcher of Cincinnati, OH; and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.

The funeral services will be held in Mt. Calvary Missionary Baptist Church in Pine Bluff, AR with Pastor Eddie Carter officiating. The internment services will be held at Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
