Services for Louis R. Weideman, 70, Newell, were held Dec. 15 at Farber & Otteman Funeral Home, Newell. Rev. Peter Wenzel officiated. Burial was in Newell Cemetery, Newell. Graveside Rites were by American Legion Post No. 193, Newell. Farber & Otteman Funeral Home, Storm Lake, was in charge of arrangements. He died Dec. 13, 1990, in Loring Hospital, Sac City. Louis was born March 31 , 1920, to Otto and Elisa M. (Buss) Weideman in Pocahontas County. Louis served with the United States Army from April, 1942 until March, 1946. He was honorably discharged March 15, 1946. He served with the 405th FA Battalion, 8th Armed Division and the 54th Air Service Group. Louis lived in Fort Dodge before moving to Newell where he owned and operated Louie's Tavern. Preceding him in death were one brother, Harris, and one sister, Vivian. Survivors include one son, two brothers, Dennis Weideman, Fort Dodge; Francis Weideman, Basile, La.; two sisters, Georgia (Mrs. Robert) Pingel, Fort Dodge; and Adeline (Mrs. Don) Behrendsen, Rolfe; and one grandson.
