Louis "Louie" Kuhn, age 92, of Hays, Kansas passed away Friday, September 16, 2022, in Hays. Louie was born August 24, 1930, to August and Helen (Dreiling) Kuhn on the family farm which was in rural Victoria, Kansas in Ellis County. Louie attended and graduated from Victoria High School.

He married Lorene "Renie" Engel on December 29, 1951, at St. Francis Catholic Church in Munjor, Kansas. She preceded him in death July 11, 2016.

Louie worked in the oilfields primarily as a pumper until his retirement at 81 years of age. He worked for Sun Oil for 30 years and then became an independent Pumper serving many oil companies. Louie was a US Army Veteran serving in the Korean War. Louie was an avid baseball fan and an excellent player as well. He was known for his home run prowess throughout his playing carrier. He was also fan of the Royals.

Louie enjoyed many things in his free time including family vacations traveling mostly by car. He enjoyed German meals especially those that used his mothers recipes which Renie cooked often for him and family. Louie had always wanted to be a farmer and for the last twenty years he has done so as a hobby on the land he and Renie purchased twenty years ago.

Louie is survived by a son, Louis Kuhn Jr. of Omaha, Nebraska; three daughters, Jackie Sue Kuhn of Topeka, Kansas, Kelly Lynn Kuhn of London, England and Tasha Renee Kuhn Aubey and husband Kelly of Phoenix, Arizona; two brothers, Jim Kuhn of Topeka and Cliff Kuhn; three sisters, Norma Wellbrock of Hays, Ellie Mae Dickerson of Tulsa, Oklahoma and Merline Wellbrock of Anthony, Kansas; four grandchildren, Charles A. Dinkel Jr., Jeffrey M. Dinkel, Michelle Renee Davis and Jade Renee Aubey as well as two great grandchildren, Breanna Leigh Dinkel and Alyssa Renee Dinkel.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Renie; a daughter, Renee Mae Kuhn in 1967; a daughter-in-law, Patty Windholz Kuhn; brothers, Elmer, Ralph, Al, Frank and August Jr., and sisters, Alice Haselhorst, Dolorosa Berens, Leona Wellbrock and Juanita Kuhn.

Visitation will be Monday, September 19th, at 5 PM – 8 PM at Brock's-Keithley Funeral Chapel and Crematory, 2509 Vine, Hays, KS 67601. A combined parish vigil and rosary service will be 7 PM Monday, September the 19th at the funeral chapel. Tuesday visitation will be 10 AM until service time at The Basilica of St. Fidelis. Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Tuesday, September 20, 2022, at The Basilica of St. Fidelis in Victoria with Fr. Jim Moster officiating. Burial will follow in the St. Joseph's Cemetery in Hays with military honors courtesy of the Hays VFW Honor Guard.
