Dale "Buck" Buchanan, formerly a long-term resident of Merrimack, NH passed away peacefully at home on September 14th, 2022. He was surrounded by his immediate family at the time of his death.

Buck was born on April 8th, 1942 to the late Earl and Wenona (Dixon) Buchanan in Homer City, PA. He was educated in the United Joint school system and graduated from high school in 1960. He was devoted to his wife, children and grandsons.

Shortly after graduating from high school, Buck enlisted in the U. S. Navy and served 27 years before retiring as a Master Chief Petty Officer. As a Cryptologic Technician (Administrative), he served tours of duty in Norfolk, London, Washington, D.C (two tours), Alaska, Florida, Guam, Fort Meade, Md. and Hawaii. While in the Navy, Buck was able to continue his education and earned a BGS (Computer Science) from Roosevelt University (Chicago, IL) and an MSSM (Systems Management) from USC.

Additionally, he was awarded a Certificate in Management Information Systems from USC and a Certificate in Data Communications from Northeastern University.

After retiring from the Navy in 1987, Buck and his family moved to New Hampshire where he went to work for Lockheed Sanders as the Computer Security Manager. Later, after Lockheed Sanders was acquired by BAE Systems, he assumed duties as a Special Access Programs (SAP) Security Manager. In addition to the FA-22 and Joint Strike Fighter SAPs, Buck was the Security Manager for a multitude of unacknowledged SAPs. He retired from BAE Systems in 2005 after 18 years' service. After retirement, he volunteered as a tax preparer with the AARP Tax-Aide Program for over ten years.

In his spare time, Buck enjoyed gardening, golfing, fishing, computing and reading. He was a member of the American Legion, Post 98 (Merrimack, NH) and the Fleet Reserve Association.

Buck was predeceased by his wife (Diane (Brink) Buchanan) of over 51 years in 2016 and his son Earl in 2022. Buck is survived by his daughter Teresa Miller and husband John of Franklin, MA and grandsons Daniel and Duncan. His surviving sister and brother are: Patricia, and her husband Ronald Hilliard of Brush Valley, PA and Joel Buchanan and his wife Lois of Commodore, PA.
