Charlotte Hamilton passed away peacefully at home at the age of 90. She was born in Muncie, Indiana and graduated from Ball State with a double degree in music and library science. Her passion for music, teaching and children continued through her life and resulted in her teaching in public schools for 35 years. She taught orchestra, band, chorus and theater at school, and also directed youth and adult choirs at her churches and when not directing, she was the organist.
She married Amos Hamilton on July 9, 1955 and moved to San Diego in 1958 where they raised two children Kathy Hamilton Leahy and Steve Hamilton. After her husband passed in October, 2004 she eventually moved into the Vi at La Jolla and began the final phase of her life. She started The Vi Chorale and had 85 members on her rooster and also taught music two days a week at the pre-school at Mission Church. This gave her new life and she thrived.
She is survived by her sister Lois Siders, daughter Kathy Hamilton Leahy, son Steve Hamilton, grandchildren Lance Leahy, Lauren Leahy Samarov and Dillon Hamilton and her nieces and nephew Melinda Rodriguez, Gail Lee and John Selph.
