Thomas Roosevelt McKnight, age 89, resident of the Burrowtown Community and husband of the late Mary Francis Daniels McKnight and the late Marie McKnight, departed this life Wednesday evening, September 14, 2022 at St. Francis Hospital in Bartlett.
Thomas was born November 8, 1932 in Mason, Tennessee, the son of the late John Eston McKnight and Kate Twisdale McKnight. He was employed with the State of Tennessee with the surveying crew for many years before his retirement 26 years ago. Thomas was a member of Ebenezer Cumberland Presbyterian Church and he enjoyed NASCAR, doing crossword puzzles, gardening and collecting old Ford's.
Mr. McKnight is survived by two daughters, Betty Griffin (Joe) and Tammy Chism (Steve); his brother, Bobby McKnight; five grandchildren, Kristy Clark (Will), Jaime Griffin, Amber Riddle (Jacob), Ashley Chism and Chris McKnight (Melissa); and three great-grandchildren. In addition to his first and second wife and parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Thomas Ray McKnight and his brother, William McKnight.
Funeral Services for Mr. McKnight will be held at 2 P.M. Friday, September 16, 2022 at the Peebles West Funeral Chapel at Oakland with Kevin Twisdale officiating. Interment will follow in the Burrow Cemetery. A visitation for Mr. McKnight will be from 1 until 2 P.M. Friday, September 16, 2022 at the Peebles West Funeral Chapel at Oakland.
Those honored to serve as pallbearers will be Chris McKnight, Andy McKnight, Jacob Riddle, Robert Dacus, Preston Ervin and Mike Miller. Honorary pallbearers will include Don Ervin.
