Of Cottage Court, Warsaw, a life long resident of this village died suddenly of a heart attack while visiting friends in Williamsville, NY. He with his brother Maurice Montgomery had been owners of the Montgomery Coal and Lumber Company for many years. The son of J. Frank and Bessie Rector Montgomery. During World War I he served in the US Marine Corps in the Dominican Republic from January 19 to August 19, 1919. He was a member of the United Church of Warsaw; the Walter Klein Post, American Legion; the Wyoming County Veterans Assn. and the Loyal Order of Moose, all of Warsaw. Survived by his widow, Gertrude Korsan Montgomery; 2 children, James Montgomery, Jr. of Warsaw and Jas. Jack Zische of LaCross, Wisc.; 7 grandchildren, his mother, Mrs. J. Frank Montgomery and a brother, Maurice W. Montgomery of WarsawJ
