Dan attended BYU, served a 33-month mission to Australia, and served in the U.S. Army Air Corp in World War II. He was in the retail hardware business, first in partnership with his brothers and then as sole owner of Christensen Hardware. He was active in the LDS Church, serving as counselor and superintendent of the stake YMMIA, assistant stake clerk, and counselor in the bishopric, among other callings. Dan served on the Richfield City Council, was president of Richfield Chamber of Commerce and Richfield Rotary Club, and was secretary of South Central Knife and Fork Club and Fish Lake Cabin Owners Association. He loved music and played saxophone and clarinet in orchestra and dance bands from his youth through much of his life.
