SALLISAW — W. Joe Humphrey, 58, of Sallisaw died Friday, Jan. 31, 2003, in Tulsa. He was a 1962 graduate of Sallisaw High School, attended Connors State College in Warner, Okla., graduated from Oklahoma State University in Stillwater with a doctorate in veterinary medicine, earned a baccalaureate degree in animal science with a minor in agriculture and received a master’s degree in business administration from Oklahoma City University. He was a former loan officer and senior vice president for Commercial Bank in Muskogee, Okla., owner and operator of Sequoyah Animal Clinic from 1970 to 1986 and administrator of Don Mentz Mental Health Facility. He was a Methodist.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Immanuel Baptist Church in Sallisaw with burial at Akins cemetery northeast of Sallisaw under the direction of Agent Funeral Home of Sallisaw.
He is survived by his fiancee, Jeanine Marshall of Sallisaw; a daughter, Brooke Roberts of Roland; three sons, Chase Humphrey of Bartlesville, Okla., Shea Humphrey of Oklahoma City and Jeff Humphrey of Roland; his mother, Mabel Humphrey of Sallisaw; two sisters, Patti Gore of Durham, N.C., and Mary Cowling of Sallisaw; and two grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Darrell Williams, Jim Smith, Joe Henry Humphrey, Bart Bates, Ted Fine and Larry Horn.
