Craig W. Mitchell, founder and leader of Mitchell's Catering and Events for the past 39 years, died at his residence on Thursday, January 17th. He was surrounded by family, friends, and his loving pet companions.

Craig was born on January 4, 1953 in Ashtabula, Ohio, the son of Tracy P. Mitchell and Alison Mitchell-Reece. He led an idyllic youth with a very large extended family, which contributed greatly to his keen interest in researching his family genealogy. Shortly after graduating from Kent State University, he migrated to North Carolina and founded Mitchell's Catering, which will continue in his name. He was instrumental in many ways and part of the fabric of the catering and special events industry not only in Raleigh and the Triangle area, but throughout the Carolinas and beyond.

Craig was preceded in death by his nephew Joel Efantis and his father. He is survived by his mother, sister Mary (John) Efantis, brother Tracy P., nephews Chad (Damon Hou) Efantis, Jared (Melissa) Efantis, niece Amanda (Dustin) Addair, great nieces and nephews Nathan and Kylie Addair and Brandon, Alex, and Emmy Bryan, and his beloved children/pets Kaiser, LuLu and Dorothy.

Committal of ashes will be held in the family plot in Ohio at a date to be determined by family. Memorial donations may be made in his name to the International Caterers Association Educational Fund at https://icaef.org/donate/ or checks can be mailed to ICAEF 8711 E. Pinnacle Peak Road, #104Scottsdale, AZ 85255.
