Carol Carmen (Shank) Rodgers, resident of Clear Lake City, Texas, passed away on Wednesday, August 11, 2021 at the age of 86 years.
Carol Carmen Shank was born April 12, 1935, in Dallas, Texas and raised by her parents Wayne and Hazel Shank in Kilgore, TX. She graduated from Kilgore High School and while attending Kilgore Junior College and was a member of the famous Kilgore Rangerettes Dance Team. She married her high school sweetheart Thomas Roy Rodgers, February 6, 1953, at First Presbyterian Church of Kilgore with a reception at her parents' house. Carol and Tom had a son Thomas Wayne Rodgers and a daughter Renee Rodgers McCoy.

Carol was a sweet, loving wife, mother, and friend with a beautiful smile that that could light up a room. She was an avid reader who took home a huge stack of books from the library every week. She loved attending Clear Lake United Methodist Church, her Sunday School class, The Navigators, and the United Methodist Women group. Carol and her husband Tom traveled and lived around the world while Tom worked for the petrochemical industry. They lived in India, The Netherlands, Czechoslovakia (Czech Republic), Saudi Arabia, and Dubai in the 70's and 80's until 1988 when their first grandchild Donald was born. They returned to the Clear Lake area and began a company, T.R. International Training in La Porte, Texas.

Carol is preceded in death by her husband Tom R. Rodgers and her son, Thomas Wayne Rodgers. She will be deeply missed by her daughter Renee R. McCoy and husband, Mike W. McCoy, her grandson Donald A. Campbell, III and granddaughter, Chelsea R. Voor and husband Jeffrey Voor, her great-grandchildren Clara, Leo, and Viviana Voor, her step-grandsons Forrest McCoy, Mitch Mason-McCoy and Zane McCoy. Recently, she has reconnected with nieces, nephews, and cousins from both sides of the family due to research of her ancestors. This brought great joy to her in the past few years with memories of the past and lots of conversations with family members.

In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to Clear Lake United Methodist Church building fund.

A service will be held Tuesday, August 17th at Forest Park East with visitation at 1:00pm and the service and burial at 2:00pm. Serving as pallbearers are Donald A. Campbell III, Jordan Clark, Jon Plasek, Steve Stanley, Joe Maas and Frank Turner. Family and friends are invited to the home of Renee and Mike McCoy, after the service for a reception.
