Mrs. Ethel Clifton, age 88, of Lyons, died Sunday, September 11, 2022, at Community Hospice House in Vidalia surrounded by her family, after an extended illness. She was a native of Emanuel County but lived most of her life in Toombs County. She was a seamstress by trade. She was employed by Globe Manufacturing, Toombs Manufacturing and later retired from Lyons Manufacturing. She loved spending time with her family and friends. She attended Lyons Presbyterian Church and occasionally she would attend Smith Street Baptist in Vidalia. She was preceded in death by her husband, Leander Clifton, her parents Henry and Mary Elizabeth Powell, her sisters, Alma Morris, Evell Lewis, Bonnie Walker, Irene Colson, Caroline Powell, her brothers, Buddy and Billy Powell and her son-in-law, Ronnie Bowen.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday evening from 6:00 until 8:00.
The funeral service will be Wednesday, September 14th, at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Ronald V. Hall Funeral Home with Reverend Trent Akins and Pastor Jason Davis officiating. Burial will follow in the Lyons City Cemetery with Pastor Chester Proctor officiating.
