Based on Humphrey Parker's Revolutionary War Pension documents, he states in his own words that he was born in the Winchester area of Virginia.

Born 1759 (From a Rev War Pension Roll of 1835), Winchester, VA.

Died 1840 early 1841 (appears in 1840 census of Lincoln Co as an 80–89-year-old male with 2 females 30-39) The two females are his two spinster daughters Nancy and Hester (FAG11851011). They never marry.

From a pension document Humphrey does NOT receive his Rev War pension in March 1841. Probably died just prior.

In the 1830 census from Lincoln Co, 1M60-69 which is Humphrey, 2F20-29 (b1800-1810), his daughters Nancy and Hester, and 1M20-29 (b1800-1810) is his son Samuel born 1807. (FAG11851017)

In the 1820 census from Lincoln Co, 1M lt 10(John), 1M10-15 (Samuel), 1M26-44 (Humphrey), and 2F lt 10 (daughters Nancy and Hester) and no older female. His wife has died. We do know an 1814 document exists for Humphrey receiving property from his wife as a dowry. Mostly household goods including a bed and bolster valued at $13.00. No name given as to his wife but we assume she died before 1820.

In 1810 census from Lincoln Co, 2M lt 10 (one son is Samuel, one is John), 1M10-15 (Nicholas), 1M gt 45 (Humphrey), 2F lt 10 (daughters Nancy and Hester), 1F26-44 (Humphrey's wife). Since he receives a dowry in 1814. It is assumed his wife in 1810 probably died and he remarries in 1814.

In 1800 census from Lincoln Co, Humphrey Parker is not found. He is either missed or at someone else's residence. Only 5 Parker's are counted including an Asa Parks (probably Parker) but they only show 1M for Humphrey Parker's age for all 5 males.

In 1790 census from Lincoln Co, 1M lt 16(brother Nicholas b after 1774), 1M gt 16 (Humphrey), 2F a daughter (Prothania) and a wife. Since Humphrey has a daughter named Nancy, and a Nancy Parker appears at the Thomas Parker estate sale of 1791, Nancy could be the name of Humphrey's wife in 1790. Prothania marries a John Bookout, based on Humphrey selling some land to Bookout at the time of her marriage and Prothania and John Bookout name one of their children Humphrey Bookout.

Humphrey Parker was a veteran of the Revolutionary War (private for 10 months in the NC militia) and his 1832 pension application, in his words, contain some information, such as he states he was 70 years old in 1832 and his brother (maybe Nicholas) went west with the family record. Not sure who his brother was and when he went west.

Humphrey mentioned in his pension document he was born in the Winchester VA area. [probably coming down the Wagon Trial Road as well with McCurry' family and Thomas Parker Sr.]

In 1791, Humphrey's name appears at a Lincoln Co NC estate sale of Thomas Parker Sr. Thomas Parker Sr came into Lincoln Co with the McCurry families and others. Thomas married Elizabeth McCurry, daughter of William McCurry. The McCurry's, Parker's and other families appear to be searching for gold. They had mined for gold in the Golden Valley of Rutherford Co, NC. Rutherford, Cleveland, and Lincoln Co, NC are contiguous counties in western NC bordering northern SC. There was also recorded a gold mine near King's Mountain in Lincoln Co and this where Humphrey and other Parkers settled.

From early Lincoln Co Tax records, Humphrey Parker is paying taxes on 200 acres in 1805-1809, 1819, 1821, 1825-1827. Also, John Parker is paying taxes 1821-1827 with 0 acres. Nicholas Parker is paying taxes 1818, 1819, 1821. But 1821 is crossed out which could mean he paid and then left Lincoln Co or was not there in 1821.

From Lincoln Co marriage records, Nicholas marries Caty Wisenant in 1819, and a Nicholas marries a Mary Gauldney/Gwaltney in 1827.
We think Nicholas leaves Lincoln prior to 1821 and goes to Coche Co, Tenn and then comes back to Lincoln and marries Mary Gauldney in 1827.

Nicholas's children with Mary could be Alfred, David, Jacob, John, Michael, see the 1850 census of Coche Co, TN, Nicholas-74 with wife Mary-64 and children including a Susannah-15 (b1835), living next to John Parker bNC-27 with family, and a Jacob Parker-40 with a son Nicholas. Susannah married a Benjamin Huskey. Alfred and David are in the 1830 cen of Lincoln.

Humphrey's children seem to be John b1808, married Jane McCarver and from tax records show John living with Humphrey. John and Jane had, possibly nine children, and one of them was John M Parker (FAG11925401) (Other Humphrey children are Nicholas, by 1830 leaves Lincoln, appears in Coche Co TN in 1870 with no children and an invalid wife.

Lacking education and culture, opposed to progress and improvements, frugal to the point of denying themselves often times the actual necessities of life, were the Parkers. Humphrey Parker, the first member of the family about whom there is any record, had two sons and two daughters. Nicholas went to Tennessee, Sam lived in the hollow west of the last railroad depot; his maiden sisters, Nancy and Hettie, in a small house farther west. Sam was born in 1807, his wife, Martha in 1811. They reared two sons, Andrew (died in Confederate Army) and Sam Jr, and five daughters, Nancy, Hetty, Polly, Sallie and Rachel, none of whom married. None of them departed from the ways of their forefathers, wearing homemade clothing and shoes, split bonnets and aprons, using primitive methods of cooking, and never allowing any innovation to enter their lives or home. Rachel would have welcomed and enjoyed some of the comforts of life and the association with some friends. She did get glasses when her eyesight became poor, and she and her brother had one ride on the train to Charlotte. Their home consisted of two one-room houses about thirty feet apart. It was surrounded by a large pasture enclosed by a split-rail fence. The Sam Parker Family Burying Ground is near the northwest section of the Kings Mountain Country Club Golf course. In the summer of 1970, all grave stones for his family and his two maiden sisters were legible, but most of them were sunken or broken.
