Merton Eugene Wood died Saturday, April 24, at the home of his brother-in-law, Gorman Gormanson, in the town of Weston, aged 40 years and 1 month. Merton Eugene Wood was born in Elk Rapids, Antrim county, Mich, March 24, 1880. He was the son of Rev. Ernest Wood, pastor of the Methodist Episcopal church of Crystal Valley, Mich. About eight years ago he was united in marriage to Miss Hattie Madsen of Irvington One child was born to them, who with her mother, is left to mourn his loss. He is also survived by his father. Rev. Ernest Wood of Michigan and one brother, Robert Eugene, of Owosso, Mich. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. W. I. Lowe of Menomonie in the Grand View church Wednesday noon, and interment was in the Grand View cemetery. The I. O. O F. lodge, of which he was a member assisted in the service at the grave.
