John Henry Francis Absolom was a service casualty of WW1

John Henry was born in Bethnal Green London and was the son of John and Susan Absolom (nee Dobson). By the time of the 1911 census the family resided at Finnis Street in Bethnal Green and Henry then aged 14 was described as an errand boy, was living with brother John and sisters Susan and Lydia

John Henry served his country in WW1 as Gunner 2400 Royal Field Artillery attached to 3rd London Brigade and served under the name of Henry Absolom. It is thought that he had no overseas service and died in London on 13th October 1915. He was laid to rest at the CITY OF LONDON CEMETERY and is commemorated on the WW1 Screen Wall.

His brother John also served in WW1.

At the time of his passing John Henry was 19 years of age.
