Keith Alan Haynes Sr., age 58, of Lumberton, Texas passed from this life on Thursday, September 1, 2022.
He was born October 30, 1963 in Beaumont and raised by his parents, Bobby and Betty Coussou Haynes.
Grateful for the people and the life he had, he loved the little things, appreciated the special moments and never found a reason to stop smiling. Behind his smile was an unconditional, welcoming nature that believed in treating all with a just, temperate equality and care. The love possessed for his brothers, sister and family was consistent and thrived, no matter the situation. Keith was kind, welcoming others into his heart and often accompanying a greeting with a big, heartfelt hug. He was a devoted father, faithfully committing himself to spending time with his children and fostering in them the same principles that he held dear. His eldest, Destini and A.J., learned so much from their dad, fishing in the yard pond behind the house and, as they grew older, at the lake and many other places. He loved sports; a Cowboys, Aggies and Astros fan, Keith spent many games in the stands with his kids, instilling in them his passion for his favorite teams. They knew and felt nothing from him but encouragement and support and he never failed to be there for his children. In his later years, he was blessed with a second daughter, Bobbie Jo, whom he dedicated himself to raising as a single father. They enjoyed time spent at the beach with family and he loved watching all the children play together. Even if all they were doing was watching movies at home or just on a trip to the store, it was his way of showing her the joy in the simple moments of life. In "Papa Keith", his grandchildren found the same love and care that their parents had been given. His way of talking was friendly, story based and, like a true Southerner, never rushed or hurried. As Keith best was known to say while quoting the Big Lebowski, "I'm the Dude." He was the dude, funny, personable and just plain awesome and this made him loved and created many lasting friendships. Never forgetting a special date or memory, he always made an effort for those he cared about. While Keith may have not known how to express himself verbally with those deeper feelings, when he put pen to paper, it was as if his heart was doing the writing instead of his hands. No card had a simple "Happy Birthday" or "Merry Christmas", his kids and friends cherished receiving his cards because of what the knew he had penned within. For the better part of 30 years, he worked as a Crane Operator, until health and time led him to retire. While working and later in that retirement, he continued to fish, often with his son or his long-time fishing buddy, Mike Pipps. Keith fancied a hearty meal, from fried fish and hushpuppies to frequent stops at McDonald's, causing a chuckle when he would always remark that "I shouldn't have ate that...but I did!". So many smiles were given, so much kindness shown, and so much loved poured out from this friend, dad, and much more that he will be forever cherished in all the hearts he touched. Though he is gone, "The Dude" and his memory will be remembered fondly.~
