Marine Private First Class Herbert C. Wilson, Jr., son of Mr. & Mrs. Herbert C. Wilson, Sr., of 27 Jana Drive, Monroe, has been meritoriously promoted to his present rank upon graduation from recruit training at the Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island, South Carolina. He received the early promotion for his superior performance in all phases of the training, with empasizes physical conditioning, discipline and teamwork.

BATON ROUGE - Herbert (Herby) Cumberland Wilson, Jr., 64, of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, passed away Thursday, June 24, 2021. He was born in Monroe, Louisiana, on March 6, 1757. After high school, he enlisted in the Marine Corps and served from 1975 to 1978. He attended Northeast Louisiana University (ULM) and worked as an architectural draftsman before becoming a civil and structural engineer. He was employed for many years with Dow Chemical and Formosa.

He was passionate about classic cars, fishing and music, but not necessarily in that order. He was a self-taught musician that favored his base guitar and loved playing gigs with his band, Loud Have Mercy.

He is preceded in death by his parents:

Diana Noel Wilson Ray

He is survived by his wife:
