From the Van Wert, Ohio, Daily Bulletin, 8/27/1906, page 3: "Mrs. Jane Athey died Saturday evening, at six o'clock at her home, one mile west of the city. Mrs. Athey was seventy-one years of age. Her death was due to a complication of diseases. The funeral services were held this afternoon at two o'clock at the home. Burial at Woodland."
