Earl Tyson Butler, 82, of 1705 Peachtree St., died Tuesday at Kitty Askins Hospice Center.

Mr. Butler was born in Wayne County and was the son of the late Oscar Vann Butler and Hattie Price Butler. He was retired from the Norfolk-Southern Railroad Company. He was a member of St. Luke United Methodist Church, where he served as a Trustee and was a member of the Methodist Men. He was also a member of The Traveler's Protection Agency.

The funeral will be will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at St. Luke United Methodist Church with the Rev. Earl Dulaney and the Rev. Jean Hood officiating. Burial will be in Wayne Memorial Park.

Mr. Butler is survived by his wife Louise Price Butler; his children, Barbara H. Wilkins and husband, Billy, of Goldsboro, Jessye H. Maher and husband, Brian, of Goldsboro, and Alan G. Hollowell and wife, Cathy, of Goldsboro; his grandchildren, Catherine Wilkins, Elizabeth Wilkins, Bill Maher, Ben Maher, Mary Catherine Hollowell and Adron Hollowell; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Enza Cooper Butler, his brother, Jesse Butler, and his sisters, Virginia B. Best and Ruby B. Wood Edwards
