Margaretha Pfrimmer married Jacob Merner on October 28, 1845, in Preston, Canada West (now Ontario). The couple farmed in South Easthope Township, Perth County, just south-west of the village of New Hamburg. Their known children were:
- Anna (1847-1926)
- Susannah (1848-1891)
- Daniel (1850-1922)
- Magdalena (1853-1935)
- Carolina (1857-1927)
- Jacob William (1859-1938)
- Gideon (1860-1940), husband of Ottilie Haake
- Levi (1861-1900)

Jacob and Margaretha Merner moved to New Hamburg, following their retirement from farming, He died there on May 9, 1890, succumbing to injuries caused by a run-away horse. Margaretha died close to a year later--she passed away on April 27, 1891, at the age of 68 years.
