David C. Samuelson
1937-2020
David C. Samuelson, age 82, longtime resident of Wheaton, passed away September 1, 2020. He was born October 12, 1937 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to Leonard & Frida Samuelson.
Dave grew up in the South Hills of Pittsburgh, graduating from Dormont High School, and Waynesburg College, where he met his first wife, Johann Korpa. He received his MBA from Carnegie-Mellon University. A partnership with Price-Waterhouse took his family to Coral Gables, FL where they enjoyed boating, sailing, and RVing. Moving to Wheaton in 1979, Dave went on to establish his own consulting firm, Samuelson Associates Computer Services. The company was at the forefront of computerizing non-profits across the country, including World Relief, to effectively manage donor bases and fund-raising.
He married Kathie Heimann in 1988. After selling his company, they enjoyed many wonderful years together in retirement. Dave was an active board member of their condo association and volunteered his time to assist with church accounting both in Wheaton and Mesa, AZ. Dave and Kathie traveled the country in their 31' Airstream and spent winters in Arizona. They also enjoyed owning a lakehouse in Indiana, hosting large annual family gatherings. When Parkinson's began to challenge Dave's physical abilities, Kathie continued to be his loyal and endlessly patient companion. The care she gave him was invaluable, and Dave's daughters are so very grateful for her presence in their lives. Dave and Kathie moved to Beacon Hill in November of 2019.
Dave's family and friends will miss him immensely, but have wonderful memories of a life well lived.
He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Kathie; his daughters Lee (the late Mark) Prior & Libby (Mike) Zamis; his grandchildren Rachel & Jackie Marro and Abby & Kate Zamis. Also survived by his sisters-in-law Dorothy & Marian Samuelson and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his brothers Leonard II & Robert.
