Reference: Robert Rogers "A Cheddar Man" of Newbury ,Massachusetts by Janet Ireland DeloreyFrom a paper by Janet Ireland Delorey:

"Robert Rogers, born about 1617 by his deposition of 1640 and referred to as a "Cheddar Man," was probably the Robert, son of Robert Rogers, who was baptized at Cheddar, co. Somerset, England, on 11 January 1618 (new style) (Bishop's Transcripts from parish registers of Cheddar in possession of Somerset County Council, Taunton, England). The lack of county records for Cheddar prior to 1678 and the unavailability of manorial records make it impossible to conclusively prove that filial relationship. He died, intestate, at Newbury, Mass., 23 December 1663 (The Vital Records of Newbury, Massachusetts, to the End of the Year 1849 [Salem, Mass., 1911]. 2:709). He married before February 1647/8 Susanna ______, who married second at Newbury, 8 March 1665 William Thomas (Vital Records of Newbury, 2: 429). She died at Newbury, 29 March 1677 (ibid., 2:736). Her identity is unknown at this time."
