Age 74 of St. Paul On August 18, 2022 Gerry was a lifelong resident of the West 7th neighborhood in St. Paul. He graduated from Monroe High School in 1965. He worked for MN/DOT for 24 years where he was the Council 6 AFSME Steward. Gerry was known for his sense of humor. He wrote the "Comedy Express"column in the Pioneer Press for several years and performed stand up comedy at clubs all around the midwest. After he retired he found his amazing talent & passion for painting and he loved sharing his art with family & friends…his paintings were displayed and sold at many places including the St.Paul Art Crawl and the MIA. Over the last 10 years he found endless happiness and celebrity by being the BEST looking Santa on the planet…even during the "off-season" when children approached him in awe he would share kind words & hand out jingle bells. He loved being a special happy part of everyone's Christmas which was his favorite time of year. Gerry put his entire heart into being a thoughtful & loving husband, a caring Dad, a talented and funny friend and one the most amazingly generous souls around. He was like no other, a very special human. May he surround us in peace & love forever through our memories. A celebration of his life will be held at Kessler & Maguire funeral home, 640 W. 7th St. Saturday August 27th 10am-12noon.
