LeRoy's family was very important to him as well as his faith. He was a member Grace United Methodist Church in Corning, he was a veteran of the US Navy during World War II, and he retired from the Corning Building Company over 30 years ago. LeRoy was an avid golfer, liked feeding squirrels on his back porch, he loved his dogs, and in his younger years, he enjoyed sailing.
He is survived by his sons, Jerry (Judith) Harris of Bath and Philip Harris of Niagara Falls, grandchildren: Jerry (Lisa) Tanner, Jennifer Harris, Audra (Philip) Hurlburt, Sherry Peeso, Melody (Jay) Harris-Caraballo, Joshua (Derik) Wigle- Harris, Shelly (John) Pontore, Justin Harris, Ricky Sutton, Jessica (Dan) Beyer, and Laura Ann Sutton, 27 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren, brother-in-law, Bert Park of Corning, and several nieces and nephews. LeRoy was predeceased by his son, Philip Lee Harris, his sisters, Betty Park and Jeri Rogers, and canine companion, Blondie.
Family and friends are invited to call at Phillips Funeral Home, 17 West Pulteney Street Corning, on Monday, September 12, 2022 from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm. A celebration of LeRoy's life will be held there at 1:00 pm. Burial will follow at Coopers Plains Cemetery where Full Military Honors will be accorded.
