Bob served in the Army when he was a young man. While stationed at Fort Ord California he met Norma Wohlrabe and they married in 1956. They settled in Tacoma. Bob learned the painting trade after he left the army. He worked for local contractors and had his own business, RE Sutton Roofing and Siding. Bob sold paint for many years, but eventually began working for himself full time. He had a great many hobbies over the years. His first love was woodworking but he loved working on his Volkswagens almost as much. He loved his family and friends and was generous to all.
Bob is survived by his sons Isaac Henry (Merri), Robert Eugene Jr. (Cristan) and daughter Candace Faye Sutton, ex-wife Norma Sutton, 7 grandchildren, and 6 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother, James Sutton (Norma), and sisters Norma Swedberg, Edith Arnold, and Gloria Lehmann.
He is also survived by his friends, the staff and residents of the Washington Veterans Home in Retsil, Washington where he spent some of the happiest years of his life.
Services will be held at Tahoma National Cemetery on September 15, 2022 at 10:30 am. There will be a reception directly afterwards at the AMVETS Post 1, 5717 S Tyler St., Tacoma WA 98409.
