David James Chalmers was a civilian casualty of WW2.
David, an A.F.S. Fireman of 10 Maberley Road, was the son of Ernest William and Louisa Henrietta Chalmers (nee Stevens). Sadly David perished while on duty when the appliance he was travelling in was destroyed as a result of an enemy air attack at the corner of Wickham Road and Court Downs Road. Also killed in this incident was Richard Beacon,
At the time of his passing David was 31 years of age.
