Richard Beacon was a civilian casualty of WW2

Richard was born in Faversham, Kent, the son of Richard and Florence Maria Beacon (nee Taylor) of Eastwoods Cottages, Swale, Kent.
Richard served as a Fireman in the A.F.S. during WW2 where he sadly perished while on duty when the appliance he was travelling in was destroyed as a result of an enemy air attack at the corner of Wickham Road and Court Downs Road.

In 1939 he had been living at 9 St. George's Road, Beckenham, which may well have been a pub or hotel as Richard is lasted as a Hotel Barman and several other occupants were seemingly connected to the premises as well, although CWGC has his address at his death as Rayleigh, Maidstone Road, Borough Green, Kent.

Also killed in this incident was David James Chalmers,

At the time of his passing Richard was 27 years of age.
