When James Warren Sims was born in 1806 in Grainger, Tennessee, his father, William, was 26 and his mother, Eleanor, was 28. He married Susan L. Griffin and they had two children together. He then married Caroline Ann Robert and they had two children together. He died on February 8, 1878, in Alexandria, Louisiana, at the age of 72.
