By the 1860 census, in Choctaw County, Mississippi, the Cartledges had 3 more children: Samuel V, 7; Edmond T, 5; and Eugene, 2. Willie was born in 1860, and James was born in 1863. The mother of at least 6 children, Eliza Ann died at age 33 on September 28, 1864.
