MUNNSVILLE — Robert Day DeWolfe, of 6123 Haslauer Road, Munnsville, N.Y., passed away Saturday, Sept. 4, 2010 at the age of 92.

He was born in Crooksville, Ohio to Findley and Ruth Sells DeWolfe on Oct. 26, 1917. For most of his childhood, he lived near Hilliard, Ohio, and in 1934, he moved to Stockbridge Valley to live with his uncle, R.Y. DeWolfe. He married Doris M. Green on July 29, 1941. Doris died on March 16, 1998. Bob and Betty Greene Salmon were married in September 1998. Betty died in September 2000.

Bob graduated from Stockbridge Valley High School and Morrisville State Agricultural School. He was employed in a variety of vocations including farming, Oneida Limited Silversmiths, New York Artificial Breeders‚ Cooperative (NYABC), International Buyer Association (IBA), American Dairy Association (ADA), and he retired as department head of the Madison County Supply and Printing Office. He was the Code Enforcement Officer for the Town of Stockbridge, a charter member of the Stockbridge Valley Ruritan Club, a member of the Madison County Historical Society, and he was an active member of the Munnsville Congregational Church. He enjoyed gardening and took great pride in the appearance of his lawn.

He is survived by his loving companion and caregiver, Barbara Miller of Munnsville; a son, Donald (Carol) DeWolfe of Munnsville; a daughter, Jane (Robert) Wolfe of East Syracuse; six grandchildren, Todd (Kelly) DeWolfe, Kim DeWolfe (Jeff Hornyak), Kevin DeWolfe, David (Cynthia) Wolfe, Samuel (Corey) Wolfe, and Charles (Christina) Wolfe; nine great-grandchildren; his nephews, F. Owen (Lisa) DeWolfe, Marty (Barbara) Green; niece, Marcia (Rick) Warham, and brother-in-law, Raymond (Marilyn) Green. He was predeceased by a son, David in 1947, and his older brother, Findley DeWolfe.

The family will receive visitors following a service in celebration of the life of Robert Day DeWolfe at the Munnsville Congregational Church on Williams Road Sunday, Sept. 26, 2010 at 2 p.m., with Pastor Thomas Davies presiding. Burial in the Stockbridge Cemetery will be private. Memorial contributions may be made to the Stockbridge Valley Ruritan Club, 6370 Eaton Road, Munnsville, N.Y. 13409; and to the Munnsville Congregational Church, Williams Road, Munnsville, N.Y. 13409. Arrangements have been entrusted to Burgess & Tedesco Funeral Home, Morrisville, N.Y.
