Lawrence Thomas Kennedy, age 77, of Ocala, Florida passed away on Friday, April 29, 2022.

Lawrence was born in Aurora, IL on Oct. 8, 1944 to the late Kathryn Kautenburger. Larry was a 1962 graduate of West Aurora High School in Aurora, IL and proudly served in the United States Navy until his retirement in 1992 as Signalman Chief Petty Officer.

He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Pamela (Molitor) Kennedy, his four children; Kellie Kennedy of Earlville, IL, Kassandra (Jason Gedzyk) Kennedy of Godley TX, Jon (Tasha) Kennedy of Midland TX, and James Kennedy of Montgomery IL; eleven grandchildren; six great grandchildren; his brother David Kennedy of Jackson, MI, including many nieces and nephews.

Larry enjoyed woodworking, cooking, getting together with his children, and grandchildren. Larry especially had a soft spot for animals – he loved to make sure they ate. It wasn't usually hard to find him if you were looking, he enjoyed sitting in his garage having a few beers, listening to his radio. Larry could always make you laugh; his animated stories were one of a kind.

He is preceded in death by his mother, Kathryn Kautenburger, his brother; Donald Gunterman, and his grandson; Ryder Warren Kennedy.

A Military Service will be held October 7, 2022 at 1:00 PM, at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, FL.

Larry's family has asked that, in lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in his name to an animal shelter or rescue of your choice.
