Private 376738 Manchester Regiment. Son of Ellis and Mary Ann Warburton, of 27 Grains Road, Shaw. Before joining the army in Dec 1915, he was employed as a piecer at the Shaw Spinning Company mill. Gassed in 1918 and discharged as unfit in Jul 1919, he did not work again and was largely confined to bed before his eventual death from tuberculosis, age 25.

Accepted for commemoration by the Commonwealth War Graves Commission on 4 Feb 2021, following research by In From the Cold Project.
