The Paris News,23 Dec.1932 Mrs Birdie Lee Carter,54,died at her home on North Main Street at 7:45 o'clock Friday night following an illness of three years.Funeral services will be held Saturday afternoon at 1:30 at the residence.The Rev.P.F.Herndon will conduct the services assisted by the Rev.J.W.Beckham.Burial will be at the Paririe Ridge cemetery.Pallbeares will be J.V.Caviness,Walter Johnson,E.A. Dodson of Paris,M.B.Kenneky and Robert Dodson of Summer,and Leo Dennie of Emberson, Mrs Carter was born in Stubeville Ky.in 1878 and moved to Texas with her parents Mr and Mrs Stephen T. Hurt,when six years old. She settled at Emberson Prairie and later married Tom Carter,son of one of the pioneer settlers of that plce.She is survived by her husband and one daugther,Miss Earl Carter and also a uncle,J.F.Hurt of Paris.
