Mr. Maiden worked as a coal miner in his native Kentucky. When World War II began, he and his brother Rutherford went to Cincinnati and enlisted in the army. He served as a paratrooper in the European theater and later served in Panama. Moved to Jackson, Michigan and later retired from Kelsey Hayes after 33 years service. He was a member of North Jackson Lions club, past commander of VFW Post 823, American Legion Post 29, Eagles Lodge 612 and Cooties Pup Tent 4.
