Damon F "Mac" McDaniel

HAUGHTON, LA- Damon F. McDaniel, "Mac," was born September 28, 1932 in Monticello, AR, the youngest of 11 children. He served in the United States Air Force from 1951-1955, was a veteran of the Korean War, and retired from the Federal Aviation Administration after 35 years of employment. In 1987, he was named Federal Employee of the Year.

Mac was preceded in death by his parents, William Madison and Laura Wilson McDaniel; five brothers, W.T. McDaniel, Harry McDaniel, George McDaniel, Madison McDaniel, and Donald McDaniel; and five sisters, Marie Brooks, Nora McKinney, Pansy Collier, Bethel Chapman, and Fay Mitchell.

His memory will be cherished by his loving wife, Margie; daughter Susan Hebert and husband Paul of Alexandria, LA; daughter Carol Myrick and husband Tom of Benton, LA; and his beloved grandchildren, Sam Myrick, wife Kim and daughter Ada of Austin, TX; Charlie Myrick and wife Stacie of Bossier City, LA; Trey Hebert of Lake Charles, LA; and Nikki Cox and husband Russ of Bossier City, LA.

Mac passed away peacefully in his home Sunday, August 24,2008, at the age of 75. Visitation will be at the Hill Crest Funeral Home from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 26, 2008. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m., Wednesday, August 27, 2008 at the Hill Crest Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Billy Pierce and Rev. Sam Myrick officiating.

Pallbearers will be Sam Myrick, Charlie Myrick, Trey Hebert, Russ Cox, and nephews Marty McDaniel and Billy Mitchell. Honorary Pallbearers will be Rusty Mitchell, Stan McDaniel, John Connard, and James Chapman.

In lieu of flowers , the family suggests memorials be made to the American Heart Association.

The family would like to thank Dr. Michael Walton and the staff of Southern Care Hospice for their loving care and support.
