We are sad to announce the passing Robert Douglas Lowery Sr, of Yukon, OK. Robert passed away peacefully on Friday, September 2 at age 84 with his family members at his side. Robert was born in Wilmer, AL on December 28, 1937 to Robert and Martha Lowery. He was the youngest of seven children. He served in the United States Air Force as a Jet Engine Mechanic. He was based Tyndall Air Force Base in Florida when he met his wife Juanita. Shortly after they were transferred to Reykjavik, Iceland. After his time in the Air Force Robert's primary career was as a carpenter and woodturner, having owned his own business creating and installing custom staircases. He was very artistic and enjoyed creating pencil drawings, wood carving and acrylic painting. Robert and Juanita were active in several churches through the years. Robert formed Royal Rangers outposts in Inglewood, CA. and Mustang, OK. Robert also enjoyed visitation and established several visitation teams for churches in Englewood, CA. and Wheatland, OK. Robert also helped start a mission church in Lawndale, CA. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Juanita Lowery, two adult children, Crista Jones of Yukon, OK and Robert Lowery Jr. and his wife Dena of Norman, OK., four granddaughters, Abigael Schultz of Long Beach, CA., Emily Lowery of Norman, OK, Lacey West of Moore, OK. and Marissa Lowery of OKC, OK. Robert recently became a great grandfather with the birth of Evelyn Apple. We will remember Dad's sharp wit and his boisterous singing around the house. That's how we learned the words to "Chantilly Lace" and a variety of Hank Williams songs. But he never sang louder than on Sunday mornings, much to the chagrin of us kids. That's how we were woke up to get ready for church.
