Richard Wayne Wheeler
June 26, 1942 - July 29, 2022

Richard Wayne Wheeler, 80, of Medora & formerly of Wheeler Hollow, died at 8:10 a.m. on Friday, July 29, 2022, at the Covered Bridge Health Campus, Seymour. He attended Haleysburg Nazarene Church. He worked at Wheeler Sawmill and farmed for many years. He enjoyed fishing and cutting wood.

Wayne was born on June 26, 1942, in Washington County, IN to the late Hendricks "Cappy" Wheeler & Mabel (Head) Wheeler. Survivors include, 3 daughters: Odetta Wheeler of Scipio, Amber (Shawn) Kidder of Elkhart, and Annie (Tracy) Lane of Medora; his fiance, Betty Cochrane of Medora; brother, Harold Wheeler of Vallonia; sister, Sharon Gibbons of Salem; 7 grandchildren, several great grandchildren, & one great-great grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his parents; 2 brothers: Gene & Joe Wheeler; a sister, Betty Cook; a grandson, John Wayne Rieken; and a great grandson, Mohammed Simon III.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 3, 2022, at Johnson Funeral Home with Larry Bennett officiating. Friends may visit with the family on Tuesday, August 2nd from 4:00-8:00 p.m. Burial will take place at Wheeler Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be given to Haleysburg Nazarene Church.
