Mr. John D. Mayo, 86, of Oak Hall, departed this life Wednesday, March 30, 2022, at Riverside Shore Memorial Hospital in Onancock.

Born in Greenville, N.C., John was the beloved son of the late Joe W. Mayo and the late Mattie Hall Burton.

John was educated in the public schools in North Carolina. He entered the workforce at an early age. John drove a truck for many years until his retirement.

On April 7, 1969, John married Dallas Frazier Mayo, who preceded him in death on March 4, 2022. They were blessed with 52 years of marriage.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 9, 2022, at Jerusalem Baptist Church in Temperanceville, with the Rev. Richard Holland officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery.

John leaves to cherish his memory: son, Leon Burton; brother, Mack Mayo; sisters, Mattie Ruth Clemmons and Johanna Smith; sister-in-law, Juanita Andrews; goddaughter and caregiver, Jackie Douglas; devoted caregivers, Min. Joyce Watson, Brenda Gandy, Christine Miller, and Dexter Miller; and a host of other nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.

Arrangements are by the Cooper & Humbles Funeral Co., Accomac.
