Margot Joan Moore (nee Chapman)

It is with profound sadness, tempered by a sense of gratitude and respect of a long life well-lived, that we announce the death of Margot Joan Moore. Margot died on Friday, June 24 at Alpine Summit Senior's Lodge in Jasper, Alberta. Wife of the late Thomas Alvin Moore (d. 1995) and mother of Gordon Mitchell (Seema Kundapur) of Vancouver, Bob Mitchell (Joanne Dixon) of Calgary, Cindy Mitchell (Kurt Saunders) of Ottawa, Nancy Addison (Mark) of Jasper and Jim Mitchell (Lizanne Hilton) of Burlington. Step-mother to Tom Moore in Australia, Terry Kerr (Sandy) on P.E.I. and Mae Moore(Lester Quitzau) on North Pender Island. Numerous Grandchildren and a plethora of friends are also left to mourn her loss. Margot is predeceased by her parents Charles (1978) and Dorothy (nee Hempton) (1996) Chapman and brother Bob Chapman (2016).
Margot was born April 25, 1930 in Regina, Saskatchewan. Her Father loudly sang "Happy Days are Here Again" in the streets of that city on the day of her birth. And indeed the world has been a better place with Margot in it.
In 1952 she married Keith Stuart Mitchell (d.2015) and they had 5 children together. The marriage ended in divorce (1971). In 1975 she married Thomas (Dinty) Alvin Moore.
Margot was a graduate of the Universities of Manitoba and Brandon attaining degrees in Home Economics and Education respectively. Margot was a teacher, a seamstress, a singer, an environmentalist, a sailor, an actress, a model, a painter and a spreader of invigorating, restorative fairy dust. Being the eternal optimist Margot strove to leave the world a better place than she found it. And indeed this she did. Margot gave freely of her substance and was ever mindful of others, a wise counselor and a sincere and constant friend. Margot came from a long line of resilient loving people. She passes this legacy on to her children and grandchildren.
Margot's family would like to thank all the staff and residents at Alpine Summit Senior's Home for opening their hearts to Margot in the last decade of her life. We also wish to acknowledge how much we appreciated their 11 years of support to each of Margot's family members particularly in the last few days of her life. They maintained and reflected her glow.
Arrangements entrusted to Foothills Memorial Chapel in Edson. A private family memorial will be held at a later date in Manitoba.
