Graveside rites for Ardmore native O.M. "Milt" Heartsill, 77, will be at 3 p.m. today at Rose Hill Cemetery under the direction of Trout Funeral Home, Ponca City.

Heartsill was born Oct. 29, 1923, in Ardmore, to O.M. and Appie Lona Sheperd Heartsill. He died Jan. 31, 2001, in Ponca City.

He was reared in Lone Grove and served in the Army Air Corps in World War II. He began his career with Oklahoma Natural Gas in Ardmore, moving to Claremore, Bristow, Tulsa, Midwest City and Clinton before becoming district vice president in Ponca City. He was active in numerous organizations and was named Ponca City Citizen of the Year for 1983 and Rotary Man of the Year in 1986.

Survivors include his wife, Aline of the home; a daughter, Phyllis Church, Mustang; a son, Scott, San Diego, calif.; a sister, Iva R. Charnock, Asheville, N.C.; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation for neurological research, 825 N.W. 13th, Oklahoma City, Okla. 73104.
