Obituary:

Douglas Edward Fletcher, 71, of Chattanooga, passed away on Monday, August 29, 2022, at his residence.

He was born into a warm and loving household with devoted parents, Edward and Carrie Fletcher on June 21, 1951, in Chattanooga, Tennessee. He attended East Fifth Street Elementary and Riverside High School where he completed his high school education, "Class of '69'". Douglas was an avid reader, which readings included many different subjects and interests. He routinely visited the public library and would spend hours reading books, magazines, and various newspapers. The Bible was the most read book in his repertoire of reading. He kept various copies within reach at any time in his home. Douglas was a master and creative seamster and tailor. He could sew and create anything from a man's three-piece suit to a woman's beautiful gown and everything in between. His work was impeccable and made to perfection.

Douglas was preceded in death by his son, Justin Crutcher; father, Edward Fletcher; paternal and maternal grandparents; nephew, Jared Carroll; along with other family members.

He leaves to cherish his memories, mother, Carrie Fletcher; three sisters, Paulette (Herb) Wallace of Pennsylvania, Carolyn Fletcher, and Marshal (Spires) Baker of Chattanooga; immediate nieces and nephews, Avis Frank, Marla Chunn, Cedric Carroll, Daren Carroll, Leslie Lewis, Demetrice Baker, and Saunjae Baker; along with several other great and great-great-nieces, nephews; cousins; other relatives and friends.

Douglas will lie in state on Sunday, Sept. 4, from 12:30-5 p.m. at Taylor Funeral Home. The family will be present at 3 p.m.
