Anthony Joseph Halter of Conway passed away at the age of 94 surrounded by loving family members on Saturday, August 27, 2022. Anthony was born in Conway on September 18, 1927 to Fred and Teresa Rumker Halter.

Anthony was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, James Halter and Lawrence Halter and four sisters, Anna Mae Halter, Louise Kuettel, Marie Breeden and Frances Nabholz.

Survivors include his loving wife, Ruby Halter, to whom he was married for 69 years; his three daughters, Joann Corning (David), Patricia Shock (Woody) and Cynthia Gray all of Conway, AR; his son, Michael Halter (Laura) of Merritt Island, FL; as well as 11 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren and countless nieces, nephews and cousins.

Anthony is also survived by two brothers, Ferdinand Halter of Conway and Elmer Halter of Waco, TX; three sisters, Mary Schrekenhofer of Conway, Mildred Chichlowski of Whitman, MA. and Agnes Blaylock of Hot Springs, AR.

A passionate veteran who served his country honorably as a Corporal in the U.S. Army 1946-1948 Headquarters Co. Field Artillery Japan, where Anthony was awarded the World War II Victory Medal and Army of Occupation Medal. He also honorably served as Private First-Class in the Army National Guard from 1948-1949 Company G 153rd Infantry and again served as a Corporal in the US Army from 1950-1953 Headquarters 806th Transportation Battalion in France.

Anthony was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and was a 1946 graduate of St. Joseph Catholic High School. An avid gardener, if he wasn't tending to his vegetables and irises, Anthony could be found volunteering for the church and community.

He loved watching many sports, but nothing was more important than Arkansas Razorback basketball and football. As the owner of Halter Appliance Repair for many years, his ability to repair most anything was unquestionable.

He was an adoring husband, loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather and great-great-grandfather to his entire family. Nothing meant more to him than his family. Anthony was a soft-spoken man with a contagious laugh, a warm smile and a witty sense of humor. Best known for his kindness and huge heart, he will be greatly missed by his wife Ruby, his children and all members of the Halter family and his many friends.

A Rosary and visitation will be held at 10:00am on Thursday, September 1, 2022, followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00am at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Conway. Anthony will be buried with military honors in St. Joseph Cemetery.
