She was born November 21, 1925 in Moline, Illinois, the daughter of Louis and Barbara (Baumgartner) Tagge. She graduated from Moline High School and then went onto earn her business degree. She worked at Moline National Bank for 28 years.
She met her husband-to-be, Allyn Adams, at the roller skating rink in Davenport. He was a sailor home on leave. They were married February 24, 1946.
Dorris' passion was roller skating. She would go every night, taking four buses to the Davenport rink. Her mother taught her to sew and she loved it. She made a sport coat for her husband and son, and pleated skirts and dresses for herself. She loved cats, wolves, and reading mystery novels.
Those left to honor her memory include her children, Gary (Martha) Adams of Davenport and David (Joline) Adams of Blue Grass, and grandchildren, Mike, Chris, Brian, Nick, John, Daniel Adams, and Jennifer Spies.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Stephen Adams; grandson, Chris Adams; and daughter-in-law, Polly Adams.
Special thank you to Silvercrest and the Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House.
