He attended Tulsa public schools and graduated from Nathan Hale High School in 1972. He also graduated from the University of Oklahoma in 1976 with a degree in journalism.
Charley founded the Tulsa Beacon newspaper. He also became a cohost on a radio show on KCFO and later took it over renaming it Tulsa Beacon Weekend. He published the Tulsa Beacon and hosted the radio show until his death in 2022.
He is survived by his wife, 2 sons, 1 daughter, 2 grandchildren and a brother, etc.
